Job summary

Aecon Concessions is seeking a Safety Lead for future opportunities in Hamilton, Ontario. This role leads the Environmental Health and Safety program, ensuring compliance, directing teams, and promoting a strong safety culture on major construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have a post‑secondary OH&S degree, an NCSO/CRSP or equivalent, and at least 5 years of construction safety experience, with proven leadership and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety.
• National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) required or (CRSP or OHS).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Health and Safety on construction projects.
• Experience leading and developing a team of EHS professionals.

Responsibilities

• Administer the EHS Program and promote the highest level of safety.
• Provide direction and support for managers, supervisors, and sub-contractors regarding their responsibilities for maintaining a positive and inclusive safety culture.
• Ensure all workplace parties fulfill their responsibilities for the EHS program.
• Participate in the pre-planning stages of work.
• Participate in site walks and safety audits; support corrective actions as needed.
• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans and training.
