Job summary

The Vancouver School Board (VSB) invites applications for the position of On-Call Speech Language Pathologist. Speech and Language Pathologists work in schools to evaluate and remediate a range of communicative difficulties in Kindergarten to Grade 12.

As a member of a School Based Team, you will collaborate with teachers, support staff and families. The role requires travel to various school sites and membership in the College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in Speech Language Pathology and eligibility for certification with the Canadian Association for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills; ability to prioritize workload.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and familiarity with paper-based and digital communication strategies and AAC.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation and remediation of a range of communicative difficulties in students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff and families as part of a School Based Team.
  • Travel to multiple school sites to support students and teachers.

Speech and Language Pathologists work in schools in the district to provide evaluation and remediation of a range of communicative difficulties in school populations (Kindergarten to Grade 12). As a member of a School Based Team, the Speech and Language Pathologist will be required to work collaboratively and to provide consultative support to teachers, support staff and families. This position requires travel to various school sites. Applicants must be a member of the College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C .

Qualifications:
  • Post graduate degree in Speech Language Pathology, as well as eligibility for certification with the Canadian Association for Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills ; demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Broad knowledge of evidence-based practice, familiarity and comfort with paper-based and digital communication strategies and toolsGeneral knowledge of Augmentative and Alternative Communication strategies and interventions.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge working with school aged children.
  • Demonstrated skills in collaborating and working with school-based professionals, ability to develop and deliver presentations or training , ability to provide effective consultation
