Job summary

The YMCA of Saskatoon is seeking a compassionate Casual Early Childhood Educator to support our Brighton Childcare Centre. This on-call role offers flexible hours and a collaborative team environment focused on safe, engaging learning for children.

You will assist with daily routines, supervise play, and help deliver age-appropriate activities that nurture growth, with a commitment to inclusive and caring service for families.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education Level I preferred.
• Experience with children in childcare, school, camp, or recreation is an asset.
• First Aid/CPR-C preferred or must be obtained.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search required.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible, dependable and responsive to centre needs.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and caring environment for children and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care and supervision for children in a licensed childcare setting.
• Support children’s learning, development, and well-being through play-based activities.
• Assist with daily routines, including meals, rest periods, outdoor play, and transitions.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized childcare environment.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members.
• Follow YMCA policies, childcare licensing requirements, and child safeguarding practices.
• Communicate any concerns or observations to the supervisory team.
• Provide coverage as needed for staff absences, vacation, or operational needs.
