Job summary

YMCA of Hamilton/Burlington/Brantford is hiring Casual Child Care Educators across multiple sites in Hamilton and Burlington. You will support the delivery of licensed, play-based child care for ages 0–12, upholding YMCA HBB policies and CCEYA requirements.

Qualifications

• Completion of a degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education.
• Membership in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• A minimum of 12 months’ experience working with children in paid work, volunteering, placements, or a combination.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and leading activities for children 0–12 years to meet developmental needs.
• Understand and comply with CCEYA, YMCA, Ministry requirements.
• Ensure health and safety of children at all times; identify hazards and implement preventative measures.
• Complete required documentation of children's development and activities; handle admin tasks.
• Assist with bathroom routines and snack/mealtimes.
• Use appropriate behaviour guidance techniques with children.
• Lead the program in the absence of the Facilitator/RECE or Assistant.
• Communicate positively with parents, school personnel and community contacts.
• Participate in Association-wide events and monthly meetings.
• Program areas may require moving and setting up equipment daily/weekly/monthly.
• Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late afternoons, and split shifts.
• Must be available for a minimum of three days per week; shifts are not guaranteed.
• Maintain ongoing communication with coach for shift scheduling.
• Ability to lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.) and work outdoors year-round for at least 2 hours daily.
