Job summary

School District 72 (Campbell River) is seeking a Custodian IV (Casual) to maintain a clean and safe learning environment across district facilities. The role involves operating powered cleaning equipment, performing light maintenance, and supporting site administration.

Reporting to the site Custodian II and supervisor, you will work in a on-call capacity, ensuring deadlines are met, hazards are mitigated, and relationships with staff and students are positive.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of full-time equivalent custodial experience.
• Valid BC Driver's License Class 5.
• Ability to operate all custodial equipment safely.
• Reading and writing in English.
• Ability to train and supervise custodial staff.

Responsibilities

• Carry out custodial work using powered cleaning equipment.
• Create a clean, healthy, and safe environment for students and staff.
• Dispose of bio-hazard materials following the Bio-Hazard Exposure Control Plan.
• Handle hazardous materials per WHMIS.
• Collect and remove waste and recycling.
• Change lightbulbs and maintain floors.
• Load and unload vehicles and move furniture.
• Secure doors and windows and respond to facility emergencies.
• Follow procedures and report issues to supervisor.
