Job summary

North Vancouver School District #44 is seeking a Custodian – Casual/On-Call to support school operations. The role covers routine janitorial tasks, securing facilities at night, and assisting with maintenance as needed.

Candidates should have strong English, the ability to work with students and staff, and a willingness to perform minor repairs. This is a casual/on-call union position with pay of $27.43/hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of janitorial and custodial methods, materials, and equipment.
• Sufficient knowledge to respond safely to emergencies.
• English fluency to understand and carry out instructions.
• BSW is not required but considered an asset.
• Up to 3 months related janitorial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, wax hallways and stairs and perform routine custodial tasks.
• Secure the school at night and ensure heat and light.
• Refer to supervisor for non-routine problems and minor repairs.
• Lock/unlock rooms, move furniture and provide facility information.
• Assist with and maintain the recycling program.
• Support students, staff, and public as needed.
