Job summary

School District 72 (Campbell River) is seeking a Custodian IV (Casual) to join our facilities team on the beautiful east coast of Vancouver Island. The role reports to the Custodian Supervisor and involves performing all custodial tasks, operating cleaning equipment, and maintaining a safe, healthy environment for students and staff across district facilities.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of custodial experience, a valid BC Driver's Licence (Class 5), knowledge of cleaning

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of recent full-time equivalent experience in custodial work.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence Class 5 minimum.
• Knowledge of cleaning functions, procedures and equipment.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment safely and use PPE.
• Physical ability for heavy lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights.
• WHMIS training and Building Service Worker Level 1 (preferred).
• Ability to lead, train and supervise custodial staff, and work with administration.

Responsibilities

• Carry out custodial duties using powered cleaning equipment.
• Create a clean, healthy, and safe environment for students and staff.
• Dispose of bio-hazard materials according to policy.
• Handle hazardous materials in accordance with WHMIS.
• Collect and remove waste and recyclables; manage lighting and flooring maintenance.
• Respond to facility emergencies and follow procedures.
• Maintain good working relationships with staff, administration and students.
