Frontier School Division in Manitoba seeks an Ojibwe Language Teacher at Wanipigow School. This is a permanent, full-time position starting as soon as possible to support students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor of Education and an eligible Manitoba Teaching Certificate, with fluency in Ojibwe. The role offers competitive salary, relocation support, housing assistance, and professional development under the Manitoba Teachers' Collective Agreement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education and Manitoba teaching certificate or eligibility.
  • Fluency in Ojibwe, written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and Truth and Reconciliation calls to action.
  • Previous teaching experience required.
  • Familiarity with the K-12 Aboriginal Languages and Culture curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Experience in a northern community is an asset.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY

Wanipigow School is a modern well-equipped Nursery to Grade 12 school with 291 students located in the community of Hollow Water nestled on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipeg, a two-hour drive northeast of Winnipeg. The beautiful surrounding area features an abundance of canoe routes, fishing spots and in the winter cross-country ski trails.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelor of Education Degree and Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • Fluency in the Ojibwe language both written and oral
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Familiarity with the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Aboriginal Languages and Culture: Manitoba Curriculum Framework of Outcomes
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Experience working in a northern community (considered an asset)
