We are a 45-year-old physical theatre company that creates original shows each week based on community-chosen themes. Serving communities all over Alberta, Trickster Theatre brings its process of show creation into about 50-60 schools per year. Our vibrant show creation process enables us to involve up to 600 students in the development of an original show each week. With 2 touring rigs, we work from one end of the province to the other, including many Indigenous communities. Over the past 35 years, we have created over 1350 shows using our week-long residency process. More than 400,000 Albertans have participated in a Trickster Theatre Residency. We also run programs that use theatre to teach K-6 science and story writing.

The company is very stable and receives operating funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the City of Calgary. By budget, it is the largest Theatre for Young Audiences company in Alberta.
