We are a 45-year-old physical theatre company that creates original shows each week based on community-chosen themes. Serving communities all over Alberta, Trickster Theatre brings its process of show creation into about 50-60 schools per year. Our vibrant show creation process enables us to involve up to 600 students in the development of an original show each week. With 2 touring rigs, we work from one end of the province to the other, including many Indigenous communities. Over the past 35 years, we have created over 1350 shows using our week-long residency process. More than 400,000 Albertans have participated in a Trickster Theatre Residency. We also run programs that use theatre to teach K-6 science and story writing.
The company is very stable and receives operating funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the City of Calgary. By budget, it is the largest Theatre for Young Audiences company in Alberta.

Job Description
We are seeking an exceptionally well-organized individual to manage the administrative side of the company. Working alongside the Creative and Executive Director, as well as the Production Coordinator, the successful candidate will play a critical role in financial planning, marketing and sales, operations management, and organizational development. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Executive and Creative Directors, as well as the Production Coordinator, to formulate season plans and budgets.
- Oversee day-to-day administrative and operational functions.
- Supervise marketing, fundraising, and public relations initiatives.
- Work with the accountant on financial reporting, budgets, and cash flow management.
- Manage contracts for schools and artists.
- Handle feedback reporting from schools and artist teams.
- Ensure compliance and reporting for organizational activities.
- Assist with grant writing and other fundraising activities.
- Manage statistical data collection.
- Organize our biannual Casino event.
- Manage social media and website content.
- Oversee the Google AdWords account.
Selection Criteria:
- Extensive experience in overseeing and executing multiple complex projects, ideally within the arts and culture sector.
- Previous experience in similar roles.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
- A Bachelor's degree in Arts Management, Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience with financial planning and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with grant funding agencies and not-for-profit governance.
- Experience with financial management software like QuickBooks Online and familiarity with CADAC.
- Experience with Salesforce, Google Suite, Google AdWords, and Campaign Monitor.
- Ability to creatively solve operational and artistic challenges.
- A love of theatre and the theatre-making process.
This is a 40-hour per week office position with some remote work flexibility, depending on company needs. Occasional weekend work may be required for representing the company at events. The office is located in NW Calgary, with 3-4 full-time and 1-3 part-time staff members. The artist team comprises approximately 25 people, mostly contracted for each project.
