McGill University is seeking a part-time Work-Study assistant to handle front desk duties and provide professional customer service. You will liaise with students, staff, and vendors, gather information for admin tasks, and help maintain spaces and equipment.
The role requires strong organization, good multitasking and the ability to work autonomously or with a team, with English and French language skills considered an asset.
Hiring Unit: Max Bell School of Public Policy Assist with administrative office tasks, taking initiative to address workload, problem-solve and perform front line duties, reporting to manager and unit.
Provide professional customer service and address front line/reception inquiries and duties. Liaise with students, staff, research teams, other departments, and internal/external service providers. Collect and compile information and documents from team members, faculty, guests, students, vendors and members of network to help with processing of admin tasks. Provide other support: verification and upkeep of space, classroom and office to ensure cleanliness, organization and coordinate logistics, follow-up on catering and inventory orders, edit and maintain data on multiple reports, and help with day-to-day operations related to program activities.
Must be customer focused and service oriented. Able to assist clients with tact and diplomacy, and maintain a professional manner and appearance. Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills with ability to clearly receive, retain and transmit information on the phone, in person, online and via email. Experience in providing general administrative support. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, able to problem-solve, prioritize duties and work well under pressure. Excellent computing skills and advanced in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, MS Teams, Zoom. Attention to detail and ability to draft correspondence and update reports and spreadsheets. Fluent in English and French (asset)
Start Date: Sep-21-2026 Salary: $17/hour Hours: preferably 2 days a week - between 12 to 20 hours a week (depending on needs)
