Job Description

You will be part of our growing team, working with occupational hygienists, hazardous materials professionals, safety professionals, and technologists. Your role involves completing on-site assessments and monitoring as an occupational hygiene technician. You will provide occupational hygiene support to various clients, working under supervision with opportunities to assume more responsibility. What you can expect to do:

  • Apply technical knowledge of methods, regulations, equipment, and procedures.
  • Make routine and non-routine decisions under supervision.
  • Work on diverse assignments with varying complexity.
  • Provide technical support, including sampling equipment calibration, site assessments for asbestos, mold, lead, PCB, etc., sample collection, data interpretation, and report writing.
  • Interpret sample/data results per legislative and industry standards.
  • Supervise asbestos abatement activities.
  • Conduct air quality assessments, including indoor air and occupational hygiene.
  • Engage in client communication to address health and safety needs.
  • Participate in health, safety, and quality control programs.
  • Engage in ongoing technical training.
  • Flexibility for evening, night, and weekend work as needed.
  • This role involves approximately 90% fieldwork and 10% office work, with travel across Alberta and Western/Northern Canada, including paid overtime.
  • Use your expertise to complete field surveys, prepare reports, collaborate across disciplines, and deliver client solutions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you'll bring:

  • Occupational Hygiene technician certificate, diploma in chemical or environmental programs, or similar education; a Bachelor of Science is also acceptable.
  • Membership in a professional organization is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in occupational hygiene or hazardous material assessments is an asset.
  • Experience with hazardous materials abatement is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle, proper registration, and insurance.
  • Ability to wear PPE such as respiratory protection, hard hats, safety vests, fire-retardant coveralls, safety boots, and glasses.
  • Desire to expand professional skills, adaptability, problem-solving abilities.
  • Enthusiasm, versatility, and team spirit.
  • Interest in working for a leading environmental consulting firm and being part of a growing team.
