Qualifications

Job Responsibilities:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Occupational Health Nursing certification (COHN(C)) is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in occupational health, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of WSIB processes, OHSA, and medical accommodation practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and case management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel between plant locations as needed.
Key Competencies
  • Ability to assess health conditions and determine appropriate interventions quickly and effectively.
  • Skilled in managing complex injury and illness cases, including WSIB coordination and RTW planning.
  • Strong understanding of OHSA, WSIB, Human Rights Code, and occupational health standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with employees, HR, HSE, and external healthcare providers.
  • Maintains high standards of privacy and professionalism in handling sensitive health information.
  • Ability to identify health trends, assess risks, and contribute to data-driven decision-making.

Physical Demands/ Working Environment
  • Combination of office, medical clinic, and production floor environments.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and movement between departments.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting of light medical equipment (up to 25 lbs).
  • Periods of computer work requiring visual focus and sitting.
  • Exposure to industrial noise and temperature variations when on the production floor (PPE provided).
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to support multiple shifts or respond to incidents.
  • Occasional travel between plant locations.

This position will require a certain amount of training both in-house and off-site. The person who accepts the position will be expected to follow a learning curve with continuous development.
