The Professional Practice Office is currently seeking a full-time, temporary Nurse Educator (until December 2025). Reporting to the Manager of Interprofessional Practice and Education, you will collaborate with clinical program leadership and the After Hours Site Administrators Team to contribute to quality client care. Your core functions will focus on staff education and practice development, enhancing professional practice, and developing high-performing interprofessional clinical teams.
Your responsibilities include assessing and developing clinical and leadership skills of point-of-care staff, focusing on scope of practice, care planning, best practices at the point-of-care, and team development. You will support clinical staff in implementing education initiatives such as patient safety, clinical policies & procedures, and orientation of new employees. Additionally, you will be involved in performance management, clinical quality improvement, program research/evaluation, and academic activities.
The role requires supporting a diverse, collaborative, and compliant workplace. The position is based at 1001 Queen Street West and includes day, evening, and weekend hours.
The successful candidate must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, hold a current BCLS (CPR) certificate, and have at least five years of experience in mental health, particularly with clients with severe mental health and addiction issues. A BN/BScN degree and computer literacy are required; an MN/MScN or relevant Master’s degree is preferred. Previous teaching experience and CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing are assets. The candidate should demonstrate effective clinical intervention, decision-making, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
