Job summary

Scarborough Health Network (SHN) is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 3 Central Surgical (GEN) area. Role involves delivering high-quality nursing care within a Team Nursing model, serving diverse patient populations across multi-service settings.

Schedules may include General or Birchmount hospital as required by department needs. Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, hold current BCLS, and bring 2 years of Acute Medical Nursing or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current BCLS.
• Two years experience in Acute Medical Nursing or related clinical placement for new graduates.
• Nursing skills in IV therapy, Post-operative monitoring/assessment.
• Patient assessment and health promotion/teaching skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
• Demonstrates problem-solving, decision making and critical thinking skills.
• Organizational, time-management and team building skills.
• Ability to function independently and as interprofessional team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to SHN Code of Conduct and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality nursing care to patients and families in a multi-service environment.
• Deliver care using Team Nursing with RN and RPN staffing mix.
• Be scheduled at General or Birchmount hospital as needed by department.
• Support patient safety and participate in in-service education and safety practices.
