Job summary

Shawenim Abinoojii is seeking a Northern Care Supervisor to lead the Northern Care program, oversee a team of professionals, and develop strategies to deliver high-quality care across eight First Nations communities. Travel to communities is required on a regular basis in this permanent, full-time role.

The role reports to the Northern Care Program and requires a Bachelor of Social Work or related degree, supervisory experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Social Work or related degree is required.
  • Significant supervisory experience in human services or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software are required.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabe is an asset.
  • Clear background checks for Child and Adult abuse, Vulnerable person, Criminal Record, PCC and Driver's Abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Northern Care staff and oversee program delivery.
  • Identify staffing needs and coordinate with HR to recruit staff.
  • Supervise licensing compliance for community homes.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions.
  • Lead staff meetings and manage attendance and leave approvals.
  • Develop and implement policies and documentation for the Northern Care program.
  • Determine effective program models and strategies.
  • Attend meetings with SECFS and report program updates.
  • Prepare monthly statistics and contribute to the Annual Report.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Managementof Northern Care staff.
  • Identify staffing needs and collaborate with Human Resources and the Director of Care to recruit and hire staff.
  • Supervise and ensure licensing standards for community homes.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to staff; conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions.
  • Organize and lead staff meetings; manage attendance and authorize leave.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and documentation for the Northern Care program.
  • Determine effective program models and strategies.
  • Participate in meetings with SECFS.
  • Approve and manage program budgets and expenditures.
  • Implement and monitor program evaluation measures.
  • Source and approve training opportunities for staff.
  • Support the implementation of training programs.
  • Maintain positive relationships with community members and stakeholders.
  • Represent the Northern Care program at community events and meetings.
  • Regular travel to northern communities is required base on the program needs.
  • Prepare and submit program updates and reports.
  • Compile and analyze monthly statistics; contribute to the Annual Report.
  • Develop and manage on-call procedures and schedules.
  • Develop and deliver presentations on the Northern Care program as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelorof Social Work or related degree is required.
  • Post-secondary education and/or extensive experience in the Human Services field required.
  • Significant supervisory experience required.
  • Proven track record in program development and management.
  • In-depth knowledge of First Nations perspectives culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabe is an asset.
  • Must have a clear background checks (Child and Adult abuse, Vulnerable person, Criminal Record, PCC and Driver's Abstract).
