Job summary

WoodGreen's Cedarvale Housing Program is seeking an Overnight Support Worker to help ensure resident safety and wellbeing through overnight hours. You will provide reception and security support, monitor common areas, and respond to emergencies.

You will work with on-site staff to deliver crisis interventions, documentation, and after-hours counselling while maintaining policy adherence in a 14-hour weekly shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Two-year diploma in social services or security certification is required.
• Minimum three years of experience with older adults and/or seniors with mental health/addictions issues.
• Ability to engage effectively with high-risk, marginalized individuals.
• Experience dealing with aggressive behaviours and de-escalation/boundary setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide reception and security support during overnight hours.
• Monitor building safety and enforce the zero-guest policy.
• Respond to emergencies, alarms, and incidents; implement crisis strategies.
• Complete hourly rounds and maintain participant activity logs/shift exchanges.
• Provide after-hours supportive counselling and coordinate with the 24-hour response team.
• Perform first aid and assist with risk management and documentation.
• Collaborate with Home Support Workers to address resident and building needs.
• Be prepared for pest control, hoarding, or death-related scenarios.
• Carry out duties assigned by management.
