Job summary

Aecon Group is seeking a Safety Advisor for night shifts to oversee hazard assessments, regulatory compliance, training, incident investigations and safety audits on major civil/infrastructure sites. The role emphasizes collaboration with project teams to develop and implement site-specific safety plans.

Ideal candidates bring 2–5 years in heavy civil HSE, relevant OH&S credentials, and a readiness to work night hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in heavy civil construction health and safety.
• Rail construction experience is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety Act and related legislation.
• Ability to effectively communicate to project management, subcontractors and clients.
• Ability to respond to unanticipated events.
• Availability for night shift hours (10:30 PM–6:30 AM).

Responsibilities

• Conduct hazard assessments of construction sites and implement mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
• Provide safety training sessions and materials for workers and site managers.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and implement corrective actions.
• Perform safety inspections and audits on construction sites; recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop site-specific health and safety plans and monitor implementation.
