Job summary

Humber Meadows is seeking a Night (Nurse) Supervisor for a 6-month, part-time position in Toronto, Ontario. Hours are 10 pm–6 am with alternating weekends. The role supervises RNs, RPNs, and PSWs, ensuring resident-centered care and adherence to regulations.

The Night Supervisor will lead the nursing team, ensure timely documentation, liaise with hospital and doctors, participate in in-services, and maintain safe medication practices. Salary ranges CAD 38.50–40 hourly.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate resident care services
• Oversee clinical care processes, ensure delivery per care plans on night shift, report to daytime leadership
• Liaise with hospital, doctors and providers for effective care delivery
• Participate in committees and lead in-services/education for night shift
• Coordinate development, implementation, review, and evaluation of care plans and RA I-MDS assessments
• Promote resident-first philosophy and compliance with FLTCA regulations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team for resident-centered care
• Ensure safe drug management and medication recording
• Report medication errors to Director of Care and participate in investigations
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet residents’ needs and communicate findings
• Keep residents and families informed on health status and changes
• Maintain quality care and safe, efficient work environment
• Maintain accurate nursing care records
• Lead through best practices and risk management
• Conduct regular audits and in-services for quality improvement
• Demonstrate knowledge of equipment used in nursing care
• Follow policies, contribute to policy development
• Respond to emergencies as incident manager until relieved
• Follow up on concerns/complaints timely
• Direct and coach PSWs and registered staff with the Director of Care
• Monitor performance and resolve performance concerns
• Lead, mentor, and support staff development and positive working environment
• Lead staff training and education in the nursing department
• Collaborate on nursing initiatives and functional evaluations
• Work with leaders to conduct investigations and produce findings reports
• Oversee HR functions including scheduling, orientation, health and safety, return-to-work and performance management
• Model positive customer service in all aspects of care
• Maintain professional conduct and appropriate interactions with all stakeholders
• Keep residents and families updated on health status and changes
• Respond to concerns with Director of Care or designate in a timely manner
• Serve as role model for nursing team per College of Nurses guidelines
