Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in dispensing and compounding medications under the supervision of a Pharmacist. The role supports the distribution component of Pharmacy Services in a hospital setting.

Qualified candidates are graduates of a Pharmacy Technician program, licensed with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, and familiar with hospital pharmacy operations and Meditech.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician course or equivalent.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (Ontario College of Pharmacists) is required.
• Experience in a hospital pharmacy and hospital pharmacy automated technologies are assets.
• Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset.

Responsibilities

• Dispense and compound drugs as delegated by a Pharmacist.
• Support the distribution component of Pharmacy Services and ensure medication safety.

Department: Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for dispensing and compounding of drugs, as delegated by a Pharmacist, and the distribution component of Pharmacy Services, in keeping with the standards of Hospital Pharmacy practice.

PROGRAM INCENTIVE

North Bay Regional Health Centre is offering $5000 in exchange for a two-year commitment to the Health Centre as a Regulated Pharmacy Technician. Funds are received in increments throughout the two-year commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

• Graduate from a Pharmacy Technician course or equivalent required
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (Ontario College of Pharmacists)
• Experience in a hospital pharmacy and hospital pharmacy automated technologies are assets
• Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset

Skills/Abilities:

• Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word) required
• Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills required
• Good attendance and work record required
• Valid class G driver's licence
• Must demonstrate commitment to ensure the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
• Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level
