Job summary

Employment and Social Development Canada is seeking a Naval Materiel State Assurance Analyst to support materiel assurance on naval vessels. You will review maintenance requests, raise repair work, analyze data for trends, and update documentation to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a two-year program of study in engineering technology, naval architecture or related technical discipline.
• QL5 military training in W Eng Tech or Mar Tech occupations is acceptable.
• Or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Review ship maintenance requests to ensure defects are clearly recorded, complete, accurate and not duplicated in the maintenance system.
• Raise work requests to initiate repair activity.
• Analyse maintenance data to identify trends, errors and outstanding work, and provide recommendations to support decision making and materiel assurance.
• Review maintenance Objective Quality Evidence and update records when repairs are completed.
• Provide practical advice and guidance on maintenance processes, defect management, reporting requirements and data quality.

Duties
As a Naval Materiel State Assurance Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting materiel assurance on naval vessels. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Review ship maintenance requests to ensure defects are clearly recorded, complete, accurate and not duplicated in the maintenance system. Use knowledge of equipment and systems to apply additional tech coding.
• Raise work requests to initiate repair activity
• Analyse maintenance data to identify trends, errors and outstanding work, and provide recommendations to support decision making and materiel assurance.
• Review maintenance Objective Quality Evidence and make updates to records when repairs are completed.
• Provide practical advice and guidance on maintenance processes, defect management, reporting requirements and data quality.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one (2) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Esquimalt, British Columbia.A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

• 1. Willing and able to work in office at CFB Esquimalt minimum four (4) days a week
• 2. Willing and able to board a ship alongside, if required.
• 3. Willing and able to comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures including wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• 4. Willing and able to work overtime when necessary.
• 5. Willing and able to travel internationally.

• Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in engineering technology, naval architecture, or other technical discipline relevant to the position being staffed;
• OR QL5 military training in either W Eng Tech or Mar Tech (legacy Mar Eng, E Tech, H Tech) occupations;
• OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

• EX1-Experience providing technical advice to stakeholders and senior management
• EX2-Experience working in a marine ship repair and maintenance environment.

• Enterprise Resource Planning software or maintenance planning software such as Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS)
• Microsoft Office 365
• SharePoint
• Experience in the management of technical publications and maintenance documentation.
• Experience in preparing and delivering training and presentations.
• Experience in the operation and maintenance of Naval Systems technology.
• Experience in Marine Systems equipment
