Intent of the process
This is an inventory process, and candidates will be assessed continuously during this period.

The positions we are trying to fill are:

• Stream 1: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Fixed Wing (Moncton, Ottawa, Vancouver)
• Stream 2: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Rotary Wing (Charlottetown, Ottawa, Parry Sound, Prince Rupert, Québec, Shearwater, Stephenville, St. John’s, St. John, Victoria)
• Stream 3: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) (Ottawa)

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

• Possession of a valid driver’s licence
• Possession of a valid passport
• Successful completion of medical examinations as prescribed by Health Canada
• Willing and able to undertake initial and update dunker training
• Willingness to travel in order to repair/return to service an unserviceable aircraft that is away from base
• Willing and able to travel for extended periods up to six (6) weeks at a time aboard Canadian Coast Guard Ships in Coastal Waterways
• Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

Operational Requirements

• Willingness and ability to undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Willingness and ability to work variable day or shift schedules, including weekends or overtime on short notice, and occasional standby during designated rest days.
• Willingness and ability work in various positions on aircraft and in the hangar, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying, and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands.

Education

• Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary school program in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent for the position.

Occupational Certification:

• Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer category License M1, or M2, or M1 and M2.

Experience

• Recent and significant experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer maintaining fixed or rotary wing aircraft. Definition of significant and recent experience: Significant experience means at least 3 years of relevant experience. Recent is defined as within the last 5 years. Stream 1 requires fixed wing aircraft experience; Stream 2 requires rotary wing aircraft experience; and Stream 3 requires either fixed or rotary wing aircraft experience.
