The successful candidate MUST consent to:

• Obtaining and maintaining a valid Health Canada medical for seagoing personnel. Note: A valid Transport Canada Seafarer’s medical may be accepted on initial appointment for a period of up to a maximum of 6 months or until a Health Canada Medical is completed.
• Maintaining a valid certificate of competency
• Being deployed within the assigned region, if required
• Going to sea for prolonged periods of time and in adverse weather conditions
• Travelling by land, air or sea
• Wearing and maintaining Canadian Coast Guard standard uniforms, safety footwear and personal protective equipment
• Working overtime, when required
• Compliance with the Canadian Coast Guard Safety Management System and Standards
• Holding a valid Canadian Passport or Permanent Resident Card, if applicable (required for some positions)

• EX1: Experience as Senior Engineer or Chief Engineer on a vessel with minimum 2000-3000 kW. Note: Senior Engineer is the Engineer next to the Chief Engineer in the line of authority. Sometimes referred to as 2nd Engineer.
