Job summary

The Arctic Marine Response Station (AMRS) at Rankin Inlet, NU, is hiring crewmembers for the Canadian Coast Guard through the Department of National Defence. Roles require 14 days on, 14 days off, with comprehensive training and duties spanning 24/7 SAR readiness and boat operations to protect mariners.

We offer travel and location-based allowances, contractor training before the season, and meals and accommodations during shifts and pre-season training in 2027.

Duties

The Arctic Marine Response Station (AMRS) is a primary SAR asset, located in Rankin Inlet, NU. Crews operate on a rotating schedule of up to 14 consecutive days of work followed by up to 14 days of rest. We equip our AMRS Crewmembers and Coxswains with essential training and skills to help them succeed in keeping mariners safe.

Other duties of this position include:

• Maintain search and rescue standby on a 24/7 basis to respond to persons and boaters in distress.
• Operate fast rescue craft in response to maritime emergencies.
• Participate in paid training with government and other response organizations.
• Participate in community education and engagement sessions to increase awareness of SAR services.

The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) Search and Rescue (SAR) program aims to save and protect lives in the maritime environment. To fulfill our mission, our objectives are to:

Intent of the process
This process will fill term positions from approximately early-May to November 2027. There may be potential of permanent employment. The employment duration is full-time shift work (14 days on, 14 days off, fully paid). Employment is conditional on the successful completion of the mandatory training prior to the operational season, and may be extended through the winter months. Training will commence in Spring of 2027. Crewing position assignments will be announced upon successful completion of pre-season training and will be based upon operational requirements.
