Job summary

BP is actively seeking an Advisor – Natural Gas Policy to join the Regulatory Affairs team in a hybrid role. You will serve as the SME on federally regulated natural gas pipelines in Canada and the U.S., focusing on CER and FERC proceedings.

You will provide analysis of rates, tariffs, and transportation services and advise on regulatory risks and opportunities that impact costs and market access. The role emphasizes strategic regulatory engagement, with responsibilities spanning regulatory

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Engineering, Business, Public Policy, Finance, Law, Energy Management, or related field.
  • Seasoned professional with experience in natural gas pipeline regulation, pipeline commercial operations, energy regulatory affairs, legal/regulatory consulting, or related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in natural gas pipeline rates, tariffs, transportation services, and regulatory proceedings.
  • Significant experience in the administration of Canada Energy Regulator (CER) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) settlement and litigation proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and evaluate regulatory developments, rule-makings, rate cases, tariff filings, certificate applications, and policy initiatives before FERC, CER, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Analyze pipeline tariffs, general terms and conditions, negotiated rate agreements, transportation services, and compliance requirements.
  • Assess commercial and operational impacts resulting from regulatory actions affecting NG transportation, storage, LNG infrastructure, and related market activities.
  • Develop concise executive summaries and strategic recommendations for leadership.
