Job summary

The Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission (APMC) is seeking a Strategic Analyst of Natural Gas Markets & Transmission. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role focuses on advanced market analysis, forecasting, and business development to strengthen Alberta's position in gas and power markets.

You will build economic models, evaluate new opportunities, and prepare concise reports for leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years energy market analysis experience.
• Knowledge of Alberta natural gas and power infrastructure.
• Experience with NGTL, AESO, Mainline, Alliance is asset.
• Ability to communicate complex market data clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop analytical models for natural gas, NGL, and power markets.
• Monitor market drivers: production trends, LNG activity, pipelines, emissions, regulations.
• Create forecasts, scenarios, and long-term market outlooks.
• Prepare reports and stakeholder materials for leadership and external audiences.
• Collaborate with leadership on strategic growth initiatives and market development.
