Job summary

Freehand Hospitality on the Halifax waterfront seeks a professional Server for Mystic, to maintain knowledge of food and beverage offerings and deliver exceptional guest experiences. You will welcome guests, inform on the menu, enter orders accurately, and ensure smooth communication with the kitchen and bar.

Ideal candidates bring Serve Right certification, 2+ years serving in similar venues, calm under pressure, sharp observation, a passion for service, and strong communication skills.

• Serve Right certification is required.
• At least 2 years of serving experience in a similar environment.

Job Description

Under the direction of the General Manager, we are looking for a Server at Mystic who will be accountable for maintaining strong knowledge about all food and beverage offerings in the restaurant.

What you will be doing as a Server:

• Welcoming each guest warmly and with enthusiasm, always creating an exceptional first impression;
• Enthusiastically inform guests about our offerings and share your menu knowledge to make the best recommendations;
• Accurately and precisely entering information into the pos system ensuring communications are clear for the BOH team;
• Provide recommendations and create a positive guest experience;
• Responding promptly and courteously to any guest request or concerns;
• Going above and beyond for special requests or celebrations and taking food preferences and guest allergies or dietary restrictions seriously;
• Maintain a clean section and monitor food quality to ensure all items are held to freehand presentation standards;
• Keenly following all food safety standards and systems;
• Such other related duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time.

The person we are looking for has:

• A valid Serve Right Certification;
• At least 2 years serving experience in a similar environment;
• The ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum, staying calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment;
• Excellent observation skills & high attention to detail, offering a helping hand to all guests whenever needed, before they even need to ask;
• Passion for food, beverage and providing excellent customer service;
• Strong communication skills.
