Job summary

The City of Burnaby seeks a Manager to lead the Solid Waste & Recycling and Signs & Road Markings divisions. You will direct operations, plan programs, and ensure delivery of services to residents, businesses and multi-family sites.

Requires a degree or diploma with 10+ years supervisory municipal experience, strong leadership, budgeting acumen, and knowledge of WorkSafeBC and contracting. Reporting to Public Works, this role drives performance and staff development.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering Technology, Environmental Studies or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive supervisory experience in municipal solid waste and recycling.
• Familiarity with by-laws, WorkSafeBC, budgeting and procurement processes.
• Ability to lead, mentor and develop staff and manage labour relations matters.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Solid Waste & Recycling Division operations including residential, commercial, industrial refuse collection and recycling programs.
• Plan, coordinate and review Signs and Road Markings Division activities and sign production.
• Prepare technical specifications and tender evaluations for related contracts and equipment purchases.
• Direct staffing decisions, performance management and succession planning in alignment with the Collective Agreement.
