Job summary

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking an experienced Utilities Supervisor to lead their solid waste management team at Autismservices. You will be responsible for providing leadership and technical oversight, ensuring compliance with regulations, and delivering excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education in a relevant technical discipline and significant experience in waste management. This role includes supervising daily crew activities and managing complex infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary program in a technical discipline (engineering or environmental technology) and ability to register with SASTT.
• MOLO (Manager of Landfill Operations) certification or ability to obtain within a defined time frame.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft-based systems.

The City of Moose Jaw seeks an experienced, strategic Utilities Supervisor to lead our solid waste management team. Reporting to the Manager of Public Works, you will provide leadership and technical oversight for the City's Solid Waste, Waste Diversion, and Material Management programs. Operating at an advanced administrative level, you will translate high‑level strategic plans into operational excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold top‑tier customer service.

• Operational Leadership: plan, coordinate, and supervise daily Environmental Service crew activities safely and efficiently.
• Asset Management: manage complex infrastructure (landfill and residential collection) and participate in capital project design reviews.
• Team Performance: recruit, onboard, coach, and manage personnel based on core values.
• Compliance & Safety: ensure full compliance with the OH&S Act, environmental frameworks, and the City's Permit‑to‑Operate Waste Disposal Grounds.
• Financial & Public Relations: assist with operational and capital budgets; handle public inquiries tactfully and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Completion of a post‑secondary program in a technical discipline (engineering or environmental technology) and ability to register with SASTT with a minimum A.Sc.T. designation and supervisory experience; or 5+ years in Waste Management/Environmental operations with 2+ years in a recent municipal leadership role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• MOLO (Manager of Landfill Operations) certification or ability to obtain within a defined time frame.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft‑based systems, municipal budgeting, and contract administration.
