Job summary

Confidential is seeking an experienced executive to lead its British Columbia operations. The role requires an accomplished operational leader with a track record of driving financial performance and building high-performing teams across regional solid waste operations.

The successful candidate will oversee regional operations, deliver strong business results, promote a safety-first culture, and collaborate with senior leadership on long-term planning and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive senior leadership experience in solid waste operations.
  • Experience leading multi-site operations with full operational and financial accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of waste collection, hauling, transfer, recycling, landfill, fleet operations, logistics, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for regional solid waste operations.
  • Lead day-to-day operational performance with focus on customer service and excellence.
  • Develop and execute business plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives to achieve financial and operational objectives.

Job description

A well-established organization in the solid waste industry is seeking an experienced executive to lead its British Columbia operations. This confidential opportunity is ideal for a proven operational leader with extensive experience managing complex waste operations, driving financial performance, and developing high-performing teams.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading regional operations, delivering strong business results, fostering a culture of safety, and supporting the organization's continued success. Additional information regarding the company and reporting structure will be shared with candidates selected to move forward in the process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership for regional solid waste operations.
  • Lead day-to-day operational performance while ensuring exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
  • Develop and execute business plans, budgets, and strategic initiatives to achieve financial and operational objectives.
  • Maintain full accountability for regional profit and loss performance.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, transportation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of operational leaders, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal, commercial, and industrial customers.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and implement initiatives that drive measurable business results.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic business initiatives and long‑term planning.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience within the solid waste industry is required.
  • Demonstrated success leading multi‑site solid waste operations with full operational and financial accountability.
  • Strong knowledge of waste collection, hauling, transfer, recycling, landfill, fleet operations, logistics, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience leading unionized operations is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead large operational teams while driving performance, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, forecasting, and P&L performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
