Job summary

IWK Health in Halifax, NS, seeks an MRI Technologist to operate MRI equipment and ensure patient safety while performing diagnostic imaging. The role involves assessing requisitions, obtaining patient history, screen for MRI safety and contrast reactions, and collaboratively supporting the care team.

The position requires CAMRT/NSCMIRTP eligibility and BLS certification, with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Radiation Technology.
• Current or eligible for CAMRT registration.
• Current or eligible for NSCMIRTP licensure.
• BLS certification current or renewal within 12 months or renewal challenge.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work in an interdisciplinary team.
• Willing to obtain continuing education.
• Competencies in other languages an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate MRI and accessory equipment with minimum supervision.
• Perform MRI procedures for diagnostic purposes.
• Assess requisitions, obtain pertinent history and screen patients for MRI safety/contrast reactions.
• Provide patient care and monitor patients during MRI procedures.
• Select imaging techniques, position patients and post-process acquired images.
• Maintain an MRI-safe environment and provide MRI safety education.
• Complete clerical duties and ensure data transfer to PACS.
