Job summary

IWK Health in Halifax is seeking a Radiology Technologist II to perform radiological procedures for medical diagnosis in the OR and X‑ray department, ensuring equipment functions and patient safety. This role requires coordination with Radiologists and Surgeons, and accurate patient preparation.

The successful candidate will hold a radiological technology credential, be eligible for NSCMIRTP registration, and maintain current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Radiological Technology is required.
• Current registration or eligible for registration with NSCMIRTP is required.
• Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS within last 12 months or renewal BLS certificate is required.
• Pediatric imaging experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Competency in other languages will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiological procedures for medical diagnosis in the OR and X‑ray department as needed.
• Troubleshoot and ensure diagnostic and accessory equipment functions properly.
• Coordinate with the attending Radiologist and Surgeon during procedures.
• Inform and prepare patients for examinations while minimizing radiation exposure.
• Practice sterile technique when required and perform related clerical duties.
