Job summary

Bridgewater Bank is seeking an experienced Manager, Mortgage Underwriting to lead our underwriting team, drive quality credit adjudication, and optimize mortgage processes. You will guide Underwriters and Mortgage Associates, ensure consistency with lending guidelines, and collaborate with partners to support growth while preserving sound risk practices.

You will shape team capability, coach staff, and manage performance in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mortgage experience in the alternative mortgage market.
• 2+ years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• 1+ year of leadership or management experience.
• Knowledge of AML/ATF practices and fraud indicators.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to make autonomous decisions under pressure.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in business/finance.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Underwriters and Mortgage Associates to achieve team goals.
• Oversee underwriting workflows, ensure policy adherence, and measure performance.
• Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and service quality.
• Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and mortgage broker partners.
• Provide escalation support for complex credit applications and risk decisions.
• Support talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
