Merovitz Potechin LLP is seeking a Mortgage Enforcement Law Clerk with experience in mortgage enforcement and personal loans collection to join our growing team.

Summary of Position

The ideal candidate will assist lawyers with litigation matters, focusing on mortgage enforcement and personal loans collections.

Work Includes, But Is Not Limited To
  1. Management of mortgage enforcement process from start to finish.
  2. Communicating with debtors, lenders, and property managers for collection purposes.
  3. Drafting documents and reports.
  4. Assembling motion records, affidavits, and other court documents.
  5. Arranging service of documents.
  6. Court filing.
  7. Managing files and preparing documents in ACL software.
  8. Coordinating Bring Forwards (BFs).
  9. Performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  1. 2-4 years of litigation, law clerk, or legal assistant experience; comparable office or business experience may be considered.
  2. Experience in residential real estate files, mortgage enforcement, personal loans collection, or power of sale process is preferred.
  3. Familiarity with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure is an asset.
  4. Familiarity with ACL Automated Civil Litigation software is an asset.
  5. Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with colleagues, clients, and external agencies.
  7. Attention to detail, time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  8. Professional, responsive, and positive attitude.
  9. Ability to maintain accurate filing systems and basic databases.
  10. Meticulous record-keeping skills.
