Role Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Lending Services, the Mortgage Account Specialist manages the default process for residential mortgage loans at CTC. Responsibilities include follow-up on unpaid or returned payments, resolving accounts in default, and handling client inquiries, all while ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and superior customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Initiate default processes, negotiate payment arrangements, and ensure compliance with agreements.
  • Recommend enforcement actions to management or the Special Handling Committee.
  • Handle manual ad-hoc mortgage payments related to defaults.
  • Review documents for accuracy and completeness before processing.
  • Process transactions accurately within service standards and policies.
  • Respond to client inquiries efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of client accounts.
  • Suggest process improvements.
  • Follow AML policies, emphasizing “Know Your Client” rules.
  • Identify and investigate AML or compliance risks early, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Support the Mortgage Servicing Manager as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in mortgage administration, servicing, collections, or related financial roles.
  • Understanding of registered products including Self-Directed, Private, and Syndicated Mortgages.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations, AML, and compliance is an asset.
