Job summary

The Health Alliance is seeking a dedicated phlebotomist to travel to Skilled Nursing Facilities and Private Residential homes to service patients. You will collect urine and oral fluid specimens and perform phlebotomy accurately and on time, while following established procedures and maintaining complete documentation.

Responsibilities include processing and packaging specimens, maintaining logs, following safety and confidentiality policies, and providing courteous customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
  • Nationally Certified Phlebotomist preferred.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and patient data.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures.
  • Complete requisitions accurately.
  • Process and package specimens for transport; maintain records.
  • Adhere to manuals and policies (Safety, Quality Assurance, etc.).
  • Maintain collection logs and logs accuracy.
  • Submit expense forms on time when applicable.
  • Maintain grooming and dress code standards.
  • Answer phones politely and communicate with clients and staff.
  • Keep information confidential at all times.
  • Report unresolved problems to the Manager or Phlebotomy Services Rep.
  • Keep work area neat and dispose of biohazard containers properly.
  • Assist with inventory and stocking of supplies.
  • Perform department-related clerical duties as assigned.
  • Handle dispatching of calls when assigned.
  • Participate in teams and special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Travel to Skilled Nursing Facilities and Private Residential homes to service patients.Treat all customers in a courteous manner. Ensures all urine and oral fluid specimens and phlebotomy specimens are collected accurately and on time.

  • Collects specimens according to established procedures.
  • Responsible for completing requisitions accurately
  • Process and package specimens for transport. Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Reads, understands and complies with departmental policies, protocols and procedures: (i.e. Procedure Manuals, Safety Manual, Compliance Manual, Automobile policies and procedures, Employee Handbook, Quality Assurance Manual).
  • Maintains all appropriate Collection logs.
  • Submits accurate expense forms, if applicable, on the required day. Demonstrates organizational commitment.
  • Adheres to departmental and company code of grooming and dress code and lab coat policies, appearing neat and clean at all times.
  • Reports on time to work, following attendance guidelines.
  • Answers the telephone in a friendly and helpful manner, by incorporating the company name, self-identification and a helpful statement Communicates appropriately with clients, customers, coworkers and the general public.
  • Keeps information confidential per company and procedural policies.
  • Communicates all unresolved problems immediately to the appropriate Manager, Supervisor, Group Leader or Phlebotomy Services Rep. II for resolution. Remains polite and courteous at all time. Miscellaneous duties and responsibilities.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean. Disposes of biohazard containers when scheduled.
  • Help with inventories and other tasks as assigned.
  • Stock supplies as needed.
  • Performs department-related clerical duties when assigned.
  • Answers phones and dispatches calls when assigned.
  • Participates on teams and special projects when asked.
  • Other duties as assigned
