Job summary

Marshall Browning Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Phlebotomist to perform patient phlebotomies, maintain the outpatient area, and support point-of-care testing with accurate record keeping.

The role requires on-the-job training with ASCP/NAACLS phlebotomy requirements and a plan to sit for the registry within 18 months. Shift is Day, Full Time, with hourly wage $15.50–$21.33 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred with emphasis on science courses.
• One year on-the-job training including completion of ASCP/NAACLS phlebotomy requirements.
• Willing to sit for ASCP/NPT registry within 18 months of hire.
• Ability to prepare reports and file accurately; knowledge of POC equipment.

Phlebotomist - Laboratory JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory Phlebotomist is responsible for performing patient phlebotomies, general laboratory maintenance of the out-patient area, point of care (POC) testing and pertinent record keeping.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school is preferred with emphasis on science courses.


• Training and Experience: On-the-job training: one year experience that includes completion of current ASCP, NAACLS phlebotomy requirements, American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians, or National Phlebotomy Association.


• Upon Completion of Training: Willing and able to sit for Registry (ASCP or NPT) within 18 months of hire in order to comply with IDPH and JCAHO standards.


• Job Knowledge: In addition to phlebotomy techniques, the Laboratory Phlebotomist must be capable of preparing accurate reports and correct filing. He or she should have some knowledge of POC equipment.
