Job summary

West Fraser’s Pacific Inland Resources division in Smithers, BC, is seeking a fully certified Heavy Duty Mechanic (third-year apprentices considered) to support mobile shop operations.

You will repair and maintain industrial mobile equipment, diagnose hydraulic, mechanical and electrical issues, and perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe, reliable production. Flexibility for day/evening/weekend shifts is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
• Ability to read manuals and schematics.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Commitment to safety and a safe workplace.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain industrial mobile equipment (log loaders, wheel loaders, forklifts).
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues using manuals and schematics.
• Complete preventive maintenance and repairs safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of service to support safe production.
• Organize and plan work independently with limited supervision.
• Work a flexible schedule including day, evening, and weekend shifts.
