Job summary

West Fraser is seeking a skilled Millwright to maintain and repair mechanical systems across our sawmill operations in Edson, Alberta. You will read blueprints, perform preventative maintenance, and repair hydraulic equipment while ensuring a safe work environment.

Key qualifications include a Journeyperson Millwright Certification, ability to read schematics, and strong problem-solving skills. Flexibility for day/evening/weekend/graveyard shifts is required, with relocation support offered if

Qualifications

• Mandatory Journeyperson Millwright Certification.
• Ability to read blueprints, plans and schematics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and creating a safe workplace.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Flexibility to work day, evening, weekend and graveyard shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain pumps, conveyors, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Read blueprints and diagrams to repair equipment.
• Operate hoisting devices to position machinery during assembly and repair.
• Inspect equipment and document repairs.
• Repair hydraulic equipment and cylinders; verify and document fixes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
