Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance in Williams Lake, BC is seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to diagnose and repair a fleet of heavy trucks and equipment. This permanent full-time role reports to the Superintendent, Mechanical and requires a safety-conscious, production-oriented technician.

You will perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance, liaise with management, and contribute to a safe, efficient shop environment.

Qualifications

• Heavy Duty Journeyperson Certificate required.
• Grade 12 education preferred.
• Experience or certification in Automotive Mechanic is an asset.
• Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5) required; Class 3 with Air is an asset.
• CVIP Inspection license is an asset.
• Welding experience is an asset.
• Able to perform heavy physical duties.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Safety-conscious and team-oriented.

• Safely perform accurate and complete vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Prioritize a safe working environment.
• Liaise with management to ensure a smooth flow of communication during repairs or maintenance work.

• Perform daily bay inspections to ensure shop neatness, cleanliness, and safety.
• Work closely as a team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
• Effectively work in all weather conditions and have the flexibility to work shift work if necessary.

Job description

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for a Heavy Duty Mechanic who will use their skills to tackle machinery challenges, ensuring our fleet of heavy-duty equipment operates with excellence.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a permanent, full-time position of Heavy Duty Mechanic, reporting to the Superintendent, Mechanical. This position requires a skilled and experienced technician; one who is safety-conscious, production oriented, and self-motivated to perform diagnostic and repair work on a variety of trucks and equipment. Your base location will be Williams Lake, BC and may require some travel throughout our great province.

What You Bring

• Heavy Duty Journeyperson Certificate
• Experience and / or certification in Automotive Mechanic is an asset
• Preferably Grade 12 education; and up-to-date technical knowledge acquired through trade-related courses
• B.C Driver's License, minimum Class 5. Class 3 with Air is an asset
• CVIP Inspection license is an asset, or willingness to acquire
• Welding experience is an asset
• Capable of performing heavy physical duties
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Prioritizes safety of self and team
