Job summary

Standard Bus is seeking a Mobile Heavy Duty Mechanic based in Prince George, BC. You will maintain and repair our fleet, with travel to northern BC regions as required. The role runs Monday–Friday, 6:30 am–4:30 pm, with potential overtime and on-call shifts.

You will earn 45 CAD per hour and a $5,000 hiring bonus paid in installments after 3 and 6 months, plus ongoing training and professional development to support your career growth.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Technician Certification (Heavy Duty) required.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean record.
• Experience diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy duty diesel equipment and commercial vehicles.
• MVI license is an asset.
• Strong diagnostic, analytical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read service manuals and use computer-based diagnostic tools.
• Willingness to travel to regional locations as needed.
• Overtime and on-call availability.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork and high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and investigate faulty vehicle components using diagnostic equipment.
• Determine repair and maintenance actions; perform adjustments and component replacements.
• Maintain and repair bus systems to keep fleets operational.
• Operate buses to test components or move vehicles as needed.
• Schedule and perform Government Inspections as required.
• Communicate with employees at all levels; maintain records of service work.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure compliance with procedures.
