Job summary

Kode Contracting Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Prince George team. You will perform repairs, overhauls, and servicing on mobile equipment and travel to remote work sites as needed.

Starting at $47.30/hour with bi-weekly pay and overtime after 40 hours. Compliance with OH&S and safety protocols is required; union dues are deducted as per the collective agreement.

Qualifications

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson’s Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Duty Technician Certification.
• 5+ years of experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of heavy equipment.
• Experience with heavy duty diesel equipment and trucks/trailers is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and clean driving abstract; ability to pass drug test.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced field environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor repairs, overhauls, and servicing on mobile equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, and similar gear.
• Troubleshoot and repair heavy and medium duty equipment; diagnose breakdowns and create work orders.
• Travel to job sites to provide mechanical support to field crews and maintain paperwork.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Prince George. The successful candidate will be responsible for complete repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of mobile equipment. Running repairs, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems. This position will be provided with a brand new fully tooled service truck.

Union Membership:

You will be required to become a member of the Union associated with this position. This will be effective immediately and will result in union dues being deducted from your pay. The terms and conditions of your employment will be governed by the collective agreement.

Wage

• OT after 40 hours
• Full-Time
• Mon-Friday with occasional weekends. Rotations are available.

Position is primarily located in Prince George, BC. Travel to remote work locations may be required as needed.

Role and Responsibilities

• Perform major and minor repairs, overhauls, and servicing on all types of mobile equipment including: (excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers, etc.; Lowbeds, step decks, B-Trains, dump trailers; Crushing Equipment) (training available as needed);
• Troubleshoot and repair heavy duty, medium duty, and on/off road equipment;
• Diagnose breakdowns and develop Work Orders using app-based reporting tools;
• Identify and complete diagnostics of equipment problems, replace worn or broken parts as required;
• Perform maintenance & repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems;
• Ability to search and apply Technical Manual procedures;
• Travel to job sites to provide mechanical support to field crews as needed;
• Maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner;
• Assist in the training of basic maintenance functions for mechanical systems with field crews;
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) daily;
• Perform daily housekeeping of work area and company vehicles;
• Ensure Compliance with all OH&S Regulations, Kode’s Safety Policy, other internal policies and safety directives are adhered to;
• Ensure safety standards and quality are being maintained and correct any errors or problems that are observed;
• Attend and participate in daily safety toolbox talks and meetings;
• Ensure all equipment is safe to be worked on;
• Have a strong understanding of lock out, tag out and other critical safety requirements;
• Actively participate in Kode’s Worksite Observation program;
• Other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.

Experience & Technical Competency

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson’s Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Duty Technician Certification;
• 5 + years of experience in a technical role that involves troubleshooting, diagnostics, and successful repair solutions;
• Previous mechanical experience with heavy duty diesel equipment (loaders, excavators, skid steers, rock trucks, etc.);
• Truck and trailer experience an asset;
• Crushing Equipment experience an asset;
• Proven safety record with a clear understanding of OH&S requirements;
• Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers License and Clean Drivers abstract;
• Must be able to pass a Drug and Alcohol Test;
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
