Job summary

AVI Health and Community Services is seeking a Crisis Response/Community Support role on Vancouver Island, Canada. The position supports individuals in crisis, performs trauma-informed assessments, and coordinates with the CRCL team across the Comox Valley and surrounding communities.

The role emphasizes cultural safety, de-escalation, and collaboration with Indigenous communities. It requires related crisis response experience, strong communication, and a commitment to equity in service

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in mental health services, de-escalation and crisis response
• Living/lived experience of systems of oppression and related backgrounds is valued
• Crisis Intervention Skills with strong situational awareness and suicide intervention

Responsibilities

• Model cultural competency and trauma-informed care
• Respond to mental health and substance use crises and triage calls
• Communicate with Dispatch/Coordinator and supervisors
• Remain on scene through shift and potential overtime
• Engage other care providers and advocate for clients
• Develop safety plans and follow-up care after crises
• Collaborate with K'ómoks First Nation and AVI teams
