Vacancystatus

This posting is for an existing vacancy

Carleton PlaceFord is building a mobile service operation, and we are looking for theLicensed 310S Technician who will run it.

This is not ashop job with a van attached. You will operate a fully equipped Ford Transitmobile service unit across the Ottawa Valley and greater Ottawa region, workingprimarily with commercial fleet customers — contractors, service companies, municipalities and business owners who cannot afford to lose a truck to a fullday in a shop. Your job is to go to them, assess what they are running, andkeep it running.

Let's be direct about what this is not

Every goodtechnician asks this question first, so we will answer it up front. This isnot changing oil on your back in somebody’s cold driveway.

The mobile unit exists to do realtechnical work in the field: diagnostics, module programming and softwareupdates, recalls and campaigns, fleet inspections and assessments, andrepairs that can be completed properly and safely on site. Work that belongson a hoist comes back to the shop, where it should be. You will never beasked to do a job badly because you happen to be outside.

What you will do
  • Operate a fully equipped Ford Transit mobileservice van as your primary work environment
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, module updates and reprogramming, and field repairs at customer locations
  • Evaluate customer fleets on site and identifysafety, maintenance and repair needs before they turn into breakdowns
  • Determine what can be properly completed in thefield and what needs to come into the shop, and communicate that clearly

  • Perform road tests and safety inspections inaccordance with applicable standards
  • Keep the van, its tooling and its inventoryclean, organized, stocked and road-ready
  • Represent the dealership professionally oncustomer property
The autonomy is real

A dedicatedService Advisor builds your bookings and manages your daily workflow, so youare not chasing your own work or fielding scheduling calls. Past that, the dayis yours to run.

For the righttechnician, this is the closest thing there is to running your own servicebusiness — with a dealership’s parts supply, technical resources, warrantybacking and established customer base behind you, and none of the overhead, risk or shop politics.

What you bring
  • Valid Ontario310S Automotive Service Technician Certificate of Qualification (required for this role)

  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence and aclean driver’s abstract, required for daily operation of a company vehicle

  • Ability to operate both manual and automatictransmissions
  • Self-directed, organized and dependable, withstrong follow-through
