Job summary

Planet Ford is seeking a fully licensed 310T Automotive Technician to join a high-volume shop. Earn $40–$50 per hour under a flat-rate plan, with a $5,000 signing bonus paid after 3 and 6 months, plus tool and boot allowance and a production bonus.

Expect 80k–130k yearly based on earnings and productivity, with benefits including health, dental and vision insurance. Ontario driver’s license required; Saturday availability may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine safety or service work required.
• Prepare quotations with estimated flat-rate times and correct parts pricing.
• Perform work as outlined in RO and quotation, to standards.
• Order parts when authorized and indicate on RO.
• Safely road-test vehicles after service or when drivability is affected.
• Supervise apprentice technicians and report deficiencies.
• Attend factory-sponsored and dealer training as scheduled.
• Keep shop clean and organized and dispose of waste per regulations.

Planet Ford is looking for a310T Licensed Automotive Technician to join their high-volume shop and is offering a Competitive Compensation Package including a flat hourly rate ranging from $40 to $50 per hour, a lucrative production bonus, a tool and boot allowance and a $5000 signing bonus paid out after three and six months of employment.

Here's what you'll deliver:

• Examine all vehicles to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
• Prepare a complete quotation including estimated flat rate times as specified in the flat-rate manuals and employer policies as a guide and correct parts pricing.
• Perform all work as outlined the repair order and approved quotation, with efficiency and accuracy, and in accordance with company and factory standards.
• Order all parts when authorization is received, unless specifically told otherwise. Indicate on the RO that you have done so.
• Save and tag all parts if the job is under warranty, insurance or regular customer pay unless the customer has requested otherwise..
• Road-test vehicles after service any time a wheel is removed, or any time a repair that might affect drivability is performed (i.e. tune-up, valve adjustment, brake work, suspension work, rattle/noise repair, etc.). Straight oil changes or transmission fluid changes are excluded.
• Ensure that all work performed is thorough, accurate, and completed in a timely fashion.
• Supervise work of all apprentice technicians or students; report immediately any deficiencies to the Service Manager.
• Attend factory-sponsored training classes as scheduled by management.
• Attend dealer-specified training courses as scheduled by management.
• Keep abreast of all factory technical bulletins.
• Learn and understand all current and emerging technologies as they apply to automobile service.
• Maintain a high degree of concentration to prevent "comebacks".
• Ensure that customer cars are kept as clean or cleaner than when they arrived, both inside and out.
• Keep the shop area neat and clean at all times.
• Clean bay and bench at the end of each shift.
• Dispose of garbage, recycling, etc. as required.
• Understand and follow federal, provincial, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
• Other duties as required by management.

What do you need to succeed?

• Automotive Service Technician, fully licensed (310T or higher).
• 3-5 years of experience with automotive mechanical operations.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
• Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License and good driving record.
• May be required to work on Saturday as per business needs.
• Licensed Class A Technician considered an asset.
• Strong diagnostic skills and a willingness to learn.
• Must be team oriented, hardworking, strong work ethic, punctual with a positive attitude.

Compensation (expected flat hourly rate)

$40.00 - $50.00 per hour under our skilled trades flat-rate (piece work) compensation plan.

Expected annual earnings

$80,000 - $130,000 per year, based on historical earnings at this location and typical productivity; actual earnings vary based on individual output and service department repair order volumes.
