Job summary

Bison Transport Inc. is seeking a Mobile Apprentice Technician/Mechanic to join our Mobile Repair Unit.

You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the fleet, diagnose issues found in inspections, and collaborate with the Service Coordinator and other technicians. As an apprentice, you will work toward Journeyman’s certification while gaining hands-on experience, with duties extending to on-site and field service in Calgary, Alberta.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Level 1 Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Registered Apprentice with the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board.
• Passed the Apprenticeship entry exam.
• Desire to obtain Journeyman’s certificate.
• Experience on trailers as a heavy duty technician is an asset.
• Diagnosing and time-management abilities.
• Ability to provide superior customer service to our Drivers.
• Willingness to work outside in all temperatures.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers’ License.
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs; stand and walk on various surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on the Bison fleet.
• Diagnose problems found during inspections and prescribe remedies.
• Work with Service Coordinator and other technicians to maintain timely service.
• Operate the Mobile Repair Unit outside of the shop when needed.

Job description

As the MobileApprentice Technician/Mechanic you will work in conjunction with the Service Coordinator, Trailer Technicians, and the other Tractor Technicians to complete preventative maintenance and repairs on the Bison fleet in a timely and efficient manner by diagnosing problems found during inspections prescribing the correct remedial action. This position will work outsideof the shop running our Mobile Repair Unit.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of Level 1 Heavy Equipment Technician

• You will be a registered Apprentice with theAlberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board

• Passed the Apprenticeship entry exam

• The desire to obtain your Journeyman’s certificate will be key to your success in this position

• Experience working on trailers as aheavy duty technician would be an asset

• Demonstrated diagnosing and time-management abilities

• Ability to provide superior customer service to our Drivers

• Willingness to work outside in all temperatures

• Ability to work unsupervised

• Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers’ License.

• May stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift and carry items weighing 50 lbs or less.

South Shop - 234090 Wrangler Rd Rocky View, AB. This position is subject to a Friday to Sunday day shift schedule. Hours of work are 06:00 - 18:30.
