Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Full-Time ED Security Guard for Mississauga Hospital. The role involves rounds, monitoring cameras, controlling entry points, and assisting during emergencies. Overtime is averaging after 88 hours, with payrate $19.93/hr. External closing date is October 30, 2026.

Qualifications

• First Aid & CPR Level C certification from a WSIB-approved vendor.
• English fluency (oral and written) is required.
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
• Diploma in Justice studies/police foundations is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check is required on hire and to be completed.
• UOF and MOAB certifications required or Paladin training provided prior to onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems; report suspicious activity.
• Monitor and control hospital entry points to restrict access.
• Act quickly in emergencies; assist staff during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions.
• De-escalate tense situations and document incidents accurately.
• Document daily activities and incidents; complete incident reports.
• Coordinate with hospital staff and local law enforcement for safety.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies and patient/visitor protocols.

Site Description: Trillium Health Partners and their security department are proud winners of the IAHSS Lindberg Bell Award 2017. It is also one of Canada’s largest academically affiliated tertiary care hospitals with highly specialized regional programs in advanced cardiac, stroke, neurosciences, orthopedic, and sexual assault/domestic violence services.

Position: Full-Time ED Security Guard

Averaging Agreement : Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Payrate: $19.93/hr (based on levelling system)

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Diploma in Justice studies/police foundations is considered an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check - to be completed upon hire
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the certifications with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
