Job summary

The role protects personnel, equipment, and the environment while promoting a proactive safety culture across all levels.

Collaborate with engineering, production and HR to design, implement and monitor safety programs that reduce risk and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive experience in mining safety management.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH are desirable.
• Experience in South African mining operations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety policies and procedures for the Kimberley mining site.
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential threats.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analyses, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Provide safety training and mentorship to all employees, contractors, and visitors, ensuring awareness of best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to integrate safety considerations into project design and execution.
• Monitor compliance with South African mining safety regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001.
• Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management and external regulators.
• Drive a culture of zero‑harm through continuous engagement, communication, and recognition programs.
