Job summary

Sibanye-Stillwater is seeking a Mining Safety Compliance Officer to lead safety policy development, audits, and training across Kimberley operations. You will ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and ISO 45001, while working with operations, engineers and contractors to embed robust safety controls.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of mining safety experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, Environmental Science or related field.
Minimum five years’ experience in mining safety compliance.
Knowledge of SA mining safety legislation and ISO 45001.

Responsibilities

Develop, review and update safety policies, procedures and risk assessments for mining activities.
Conduct safety audits, inspections and incident investigations to ensure regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with managers, engineers and contractors to embed safety controls in daily work.
Prepare and present safety performance reports, dashboards and metrics to leadership.
Lead safety training sessions, toolbox talks and emergency drills for all personnel.
Maintain records of incidents, near-misses and corrective actions; manage filings.
Advise on PPE selection and use of safety technologies.
Support continuous improvement to reduce lost-time injuries and illnesses.
