Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join their Kimberley team. You will lead the design and development of integrated mechanical systems, from ideation to prototyping, ensuring performance and reliability across diverse projects.

You will create detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings, conduct analyses, and collaborate with electrical and software teams for system integration. A hybrid work arrangement supports balanced onsite and remote collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical systems design.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or similar high-end CAD software.
  • Experience with system integration and multidisciplinary design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, ensuring functionality and reliability.
  • Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and specifications using CAD software.
  • Perform analytical calculations and simulations (FEA, thermal analysis) to validate designs.

About the Role

Our client seeks a proficient Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join their team in Kimberley . This role focuses on conceptualizing, designing, and developing integrated mechanical systems that meet complex project requirements. You will be involved in the entire design process, from initial ideation and detailed engineering to prototyping and testing. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, ensuring functionality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Create detailed 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, and specifications using advanced CAD software.
  • Perform analytical calculations and simulations (e.g., FEA , thermal analysis) to validate design performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and software developers, for system integration.
  • Develop and execute test plans for prototypes and production systems, documenting results and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot design issues and propose innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical systems design.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar high-end CAD software.
  • Experience with system integration and multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and contribute to projects in the Kimberley area.
