Job summary

Ventura Foods is seeking a Millwright in Toronto, ON to maintain and repair packaging and process equipment in a food manufacturing setting. The role requires a 443A Millwright license and 5 years of hands-on experience with processing and packaging equipment.

You will perform PMs, equipment changeovers, and ensure GMP and safety standards are met. Working onsite in a day shift, you’ll troubleshoot and repair equipment, document work, and support continuous improvement across the line with a

Position Summary:

443A Millwright license required.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Millwright is responsible for ongoing maintenance, repair and performance of production equipment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety Standards, SOP's and Statistical Process Control (SPC) requirements.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Modify, repair, install, maintain, improve and troubleshoot various types of packing & process equipment in food manufacturing.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and provide quick, innovative solutions for mechanical equipment breakdowns by applying proven skills in the principles of mechanics, fitting, plumbing, basic welding, metal work, machining, troubleshooting and analytical problem solving.
  • Conduct PM programs according to standards
  • Responsible for equipment changeover, set up, take down and relocation of all packaging equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and trouble shooting
  • Recommend solutions to routine and unique equipment problems
  • Response to equipment problems in a timely & customer-oriented manner
  • Integrating all plant, quality, safety and security policies and guidelines into all day-to-day activities on the job
  • All other work as assigned by duly authorized Supervisor or Team Leader
Education and Experience:
  • 443A Millwright license required.
  • 5 years of experience
  • Previous experience in both processing and packaging equipment such as homogenizers, process valves, pumps, heat exchangers, rotary fillers, bottle sleevers etc.
  • High School Diploma Preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Read and interpret technical specs and drawings
  • Conduct PM program according to standards
  • Work in a team environment with continuous improvement efforts
  • Follow all proper maintenance, sanitation and Health & Safety protocols always
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and general housekeeping
  • Support the timely and effective line handover between shifts, including the completion of proper documentation and accurate briefing on progress/issues
  • Acquiring new skills as per training provided
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors as a Quality Focused, Service Oriented Team Player
  • Solve problems independently as per standard guidelines and procedures
